Factory Acceptance Testing Checklist for Automation Equipment

What to verify before shipment, including products, speeds, alarms, safety, recovery and documentation.

VI-300 Vision Inspection System

A useful FAT is a project gate, not a factory tour. The checklist should connect the approved technical specification to observable test results.

Before the test

  • Confirm approved drawings and open technical actions
  • Verify test products, packaging and sample quantities
  • Agree the test sequence, speed basis and recording method
  • Identify items that can only be completed on site

Mechanical and electrical inspection

Review guarding, access, materials, component brands, wiring, labels, utilities, lubrication points and general workmanship.

Function and recipe testing

Challenge automatic, manual and maintenance modes. Verify recipes, sensors, actuators, alarms, interlocks, counters and user permissions.

Performance testing

Run agreed products at the defined output. Record quality, reject rate, accumulation behavior, changeover and any operating restrictions.

Fault and recovery testing

Simulate blocked products, missing materials, opened guards, low air, communication loss and emergency stops. Check controlled recovery rather than only alarm display.

Document handover

Review manuals, drawings, software backups, component lists, spare parts, training material and the signed punch list before shipment release.

Automation Project FAQ

Questions Buyers Usually Ask Before Requesting a Technical Proposal

Clear product data, layout information and acceptance criteria help suppliers prepare a useful technical proposal instead of a generic price sheet.

What information is needed for an automation quotation?

Please share product dimensions and weight, current packaging, target speed, required pack pattern, available layout, utilities, destination standard and any upstream or downstream equipment.

Can one machine handle multiple product sizes?

Usually yes, within a defined operating range. The proposal should identify no-tool adjustments, change parts, recipe settings and the expected changeover time.

How is the system tested before shipment?

A factory acceptance test is prepared around the agreed products, speed, functions, alarms, safety checks and documentation. Customer samples are strongly recommended.

Do you support installation and operator training?

Remote guidance and on-site commissioning can be planned according to project scope, location and local contractor capability.

Which PLC and electrical brands are available?

Siemens, Allen-Bradley and other internationally supported platforms can be discussed. Final selection depends on destination standards and the customer’s maintenance preference.
